This piece is absolutely breathtaking. The raw emotion that the dancers show in this video stopped me dead in my tracks. I had to re-watch it a couple of times to even be able to fully appreciate it. The power and the emotion that the dancers commit to the story of the dance is incredible. They are able to take a piece of music and portray a complete story and use every emotion and past experience to put themselves wholeheartedly into the movements and into their partner. I think of this video as a source of motivation and inspiration when it comes to channeling every single emotion I have felt during this journey and put it into my dancing and hopefully let the audience feel the same emotions that I have
"Anaheim Ballet: Turning Tips!" YouTube. YouTube, 15 Jan. 2011. Web. 16 May 2013.
This video has some great exercises that are going to be very helpful as I try to improve my turing technique. The way that the skill is broken down in these exercises, as well as the clear demonstrations in the video, are going to be great tips for being stronger and more confident in my turning.

Watching this dance definitely made me commit to the idea of using a ribbon (or something) to mark my ankle while I am doing my dance. I think it will be a simple, yet extremely powerful way for me to get my message and story across while I am dancing!

This is a site that I have looked at several times after my surgery. It gives me a very good idea of exactly what my surgery was, which is complicated to understand, but this website gives a detailed description. I also like that this website included pictures. While it is slightly graphic, it was cool for me to be able to see exactly what was happening to me while I was on the operating table. After reading this is has also given me a perspective on just how serious this surgery was and how me overcoming it and getting back to dancing is a pretty impressive thing!

This is a video that I found while I was spending hours on YouTube. I love this song and the dancer is incredibly talented, but she goes far beyond that in her dancing. She puts all of her emotions and everything she has into the dance. I also like that she does not try to put in every move she has ever learned. She highlights her strengths while following the story of the song, something that I hope to accomplish in my own solo.

This article is a great research source for my project. It goes into great detail about exactly what an allograph surgery is and how it will help the patient and what the benefits are of having this particular surgery. I hope to find other articles like this one that give clear, concise information about the surgery that I had in August.

I found this article to help put into words the affects that I have always felt dancing has had. Dancing can relieve stress and increase happiness but it can also go far beyond short term effects and create disciplines that spread into all other areas of life.
This article is so true! It explains why you need to listen to your body when something hurts and take the time to get any/all injuries checked out. Listening to an injury can save you years of pain and even prevent surgery. I wish that I had read this article before I did serious damage to my own ankle.

This is one of the dances in my comparison to show how one song can be interpreted and applied in many different ways. This duet creates a very unique feeling and emotion. One choreographer can create a piece to the same song as some one else and it will be completely different.
This is the other piece of my dance comparison. This is a large group dance and the feel and dynamics of the performance are very different from the duet in that other video. As I learn to choreograph it is interesting to see how the number of dancers can play a large factor in how the dance is performed.
Miss Mia, a friend of my mom, is a dancer and choreographer. She coaches at her parents studio, Filippettis Academy of Dance Arts and has been a performer her entire life. Mia has given me great information and proved to be one of the most valuable resources I have had in this process!
